Currently serving as Director of Operations for Visit Knoxville, Austin has his thumb on the pulse of the city’s heartbeat and is excited to help our town continue to thrive.
Born and raised on Rocky Top, Adam’s been surrounded by musicians and good tunes for practically his entire life. When he wasn’t at house shows in high school, most of his free time was spent diving into new music and music writing. Once he got to college, music journalism felt like a no-brainer. Born and raised on Rocky Top, Adam’s been surrounded by musicians and good tunes for practically his entire life. When he wasn’t at house shows in high school, most of his free time was spent diving into new music and music writing. Once he got to college, music journalism felt like a no-brainer. He currently writes for The Daily Beacon, the editorially independent newspaper at The University of Tennessee, where he covers news, arts and culture. Writing for Knoxville Music has allowed him to delve into his niche and love of country and southern born acts. Some of his favorite artists include Sturgill Simpson, Waylon Jennings and of course, Dolly Parton.
Alex is a father to Hudson, a husband to Jessica, and an expert in songs, strategies, and relationships. He’s spent 10 years in Nashville as a student, producer, writer, touring musician, manager, and entrepreneur. Alex is a father to Hudson, a husband to Jessica, and an expert in songs, strategies, and relationships. He’s spent 10 years in Nashville as a student, producer, writer, touring musician, manager, and entrepreneur. Alex has written and produced records, toured in bands, and worked for some of the top labels and publishers. In 2023 Alex launched his own label, Circle Back. Alex works with artists on creative and business strategies surrounding their music. His background in songwriting and production aids Alex in providing “A&R -esque” services to artists to help in the writing and creation of songs. Alex also heads up the nonprofit, SongFarm, as the Director of Technology where he, Reid Shippen, and Ross Copperman raise funds to put recording studios in low income high schools around the U.S. A wearer of many hats, Alex, has a passion for songs, stories, and the people who write them.
